Cover Reveal!

They say to never judge a book by its cover but have you been in a book store lately? If I see one more cartoon cis het boy/girl doing a sport primary color monstrosity, well, I’m never far from becoming the Unibomber.

Even my current publisher at Royal Road is terrible about AI covers. Over saturated, lifeless, dead fish eye looking ass.

I remember that my grandfather would read those harlequin romance books -there was a reason he had so many kids- and now those, those had some covers! Whatever happened to oil paintings?

Timeless Passion by Constance O’Day-Flannery. Published by Zebra Books in 1986.

THIS! This is a cover with some hair on its chest. Miss me with the AI slop.

Remember kids, any doodle that you do, anything scribbled thought is better than anything the an LLM AI can spit out. Shit, if you want confidence and wrong answers give me a call. I can do that for way less than the three (!) data centers coming up in my hometown.

All that old man whining means that I had to find an artist that could vibe the New Orleans vibe and they knocked it out of the park. Dark, cool, vibey, its exactly what I had pictured in my mind as I was writing and with any luck it will help it stand out on Royal Road.

Boom! If that doesn’t have a working man vampire feeling to it than you aren’t paying attention. I love how the water colors all bleed and flow into each other. The chess hustlers, all of it.

The artist doesn’t spend a lot of time on the internet so she doesn’t have socials to call out but it you appreciate the style and want to talk to her, let me know I can pass the word on.
